CHILD PROTECTIVE INVESTIGATIVE TEAM
The Child Advocacy Center works as a multidisciplinary team with Department of Children’s Services, law enforcement, mental health counselors, and the District Attorney’s Office to investigate and prosecute child abuse cases and help children and their families heal.
Forensic interviews are provided in a safe, child friendly location where children suspected of being victims of abuse are interviewed in connection with the crime.
Crisis intervention services are provided to assist children and families through the criminal investigation and connect the family to community resources to help them heal from the trauma and victimization of the abuse.
Support groups for child sexual abuse victims and groups for their non-offending parents and grandparents are provided to assist with the healing process.
DRUG ENDANGERED CHILDREN
The Drug Endangered Children program teaches families how to cope with addiction issues. Services include alcohol and drug education, relapse prevention, anger management, parenting and communication skills, and stress management.
DARKNESS TO LIGHT
Darkness to Light is a nationwide initiative designed to train adults how to protect children by teaching them the 5 Steps to Protecting Children from Child Sexual Abuse. The Center has set a goal to train 10,500 Rutherford and Cannon County parents and grandparents– this represents 5% of the adult population.
The Child Advocacy Center is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit agency.
All services are provided free of charge.
